Apple Walnut Stuffing Thanksgiving Recipe

No one celebrates Thanksgiving quite like Rob's family! And when it comes to cooking, there are quite a few recipes that have been in his family for generations, but he was only willing to share just one with us. Try this new twist on the classic Thanksgiving stuffing recipe to really impress your guests this year!

What You’ll Need:

  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 large onion, finely diced
  • 3 ribs celery, finely diced
  • Salt
  • 3 cloves garlic, smashed and finely diced
  • 3 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and cut into 1-inch dice
  • 1 cup apple cider
  • ½ bunch sage, leaves finely chopped
  • ¾ cup walnuts, chopped
  • 10 cups stale bread or fresh bread slices toasted until crispy
  • 2-3 cups chicken stock

Directions:

  1. Heat oven to 350⁰F
  2. Grease a 9x11" baking pan and set aside
  3. Coat a large pan with olive oil and sauté onions and celery over medium heat
  4. Season with salt and cook until vegetables become soft
  5. Add garlic and cook for another 1-2 minutes
  6. Stir in apples and apple cider and cook for about 3-4 minutes or until apples begin to soften
  7. Turn off the heat and sprinkle in sage leaves and walnuts
  8. Add the diced bread and mix together with sautéed ingredients
  9. Pour chicken stock and knead until bread is soggy
  10. Taste test and season with salt if needed
  11. Transfer to baking pan and bake in oven for 45-50 minutes or until the top is brown and crispy
